The Mid Sussex District Plan
Mid Sussex District Council is creating a new plan to guide where homes and facilities are built up to 2040. An independent Inspector is checking the plan before it can be approved.
Where Things Stand
The Inspector asked the Council to look at providing more housing sites. Our site, West House Farm, south of Henfield Road, has been assessed and the Council has concluded it should be included for around 325 homes. The conclusions to the In-Combination Testing were published on the Mid Sussex District Council website on Monday 20th July and this confirmed that our site had been allocated in the local plan.
Key Dates for the District Plan
27 July – 7 September: Public consultation — have your say.
Autumn 2025: Inspector reviews responses and may hold further hearings.
After this, the Inspector will issue a final report, and the Council can adopt the plan.
Our Site
West House Farm lies between Sayers Common and Albourne, bordered on three sides by the draft allocated site DPSC3 (Land South of Reeds Lane). It is designed to work alongside and improve this neighbouring development.
Benefits
Better design: Connects the east and west parcels of the neighbouring allocated site for a more coherent community. Delivers nearly 14 hectares of publicly accessible green space, including a new country park with views to the north, open to existing Albourne residents, plus a central play area and four smaller play spaces.
Better connections: New walking links directly to Albourne village, enhanced Public Rights of Way, and cycle routes through the site linking to proposed cycle infrastructure on the neighbouring site, connecting to Hassocks Railway Station (20 minutes) for commuting to London.
Working together: We are working with the promoters of the neighbouring site to deliver coordinated infrastructure, including contributions to local schools, health services, and sustainable transport.
